Liz Carmouche Wants a Flyweight Division in The UFC (My Thoughts)

Liz Carmouche made headlines weeks ago in stating she wants a Flyweight Division in The UFC, and I can't blame her at all! There's so many entertaining fighters put there alREADY at 125! I made a few Flyweight Prospect Articles just to support that, but why do I believe we need a Flyweight Division in The UFC?

Liz Carmouche brings up very valid points. She doesn't hardly have to cut any weight to make 135, and is small at Bantamweight. She brings up a great point in that she's a perfect fit for a Flyweight Division. She believes she will claim the division by being dominant at Flyweight, and I can't argue that because she's fought and even beaten some of the best at 135 including wins over Valentina Shevchenko, Jessica Andrade (now Strawweight), always tough Lauren Murphy, and Former Top 5 Flyweight Katlyn Chookagian,

She's fought and already beat some of the best at 135, so she makes a very valid point in dominating at 125 if The UFC opens that division.

I've campaigned for years for both a Atomweight and Flyweight Division (even Men's Strawweight), but there's more and nmore talks of adding a Women's Flyweight Division.

It's not just Carmouche wanting it, but fan favorite and always entertaining, hard hitting, P4P #1 Fighter, UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in which she wants to make history for being The First Ever 2-Division UFC Champion in MMA's Long and Amazing History.

It's not just them two wanting it, but other Flyweights and fans have been wanting it too.

Why should The UFC open a Flyweight Division? Let's find out!

1. It opens up opportunities for Strawweights to move up, and for Bantamweights to move down.

This is the biggest because some are just too small (Bantamweight) or too big and have hard weight cuts (Strawweight) (Valerie Letourneau is a prime example)

While Carmouche has fought the best at 135, she's also lost to Current Top 5 fighters, so fighting at Flyweight she could do a lot better.

2. Soooo much talent to be discovered!

There's so many out there just awaiting to be put on the biggest stage in MMA, The UFC. While I dislike the way The UFC manages their fighters, it can't be denied they're the biggest stage in MMA.

Andrea Lee has been making WAVES in MMA being a very very VERY hard hitting Flyweight and being dominant. She's the current LFA Flyweight Champion.

MacKenzie Dern - though fighting at Strawweight, she has missed weight twice. If she can't make it a third, she'd be perfect for an ever evolving Flyweight Division.

Silvana Gomez Juarez - Like Andrea Lee before her, she LOVES to brawl and supports an iron chin. She hits very very hard like Andrea Lee.

Current UFC Fighter - Poliana Botelho - like Silvana Gomez Juarez and Andrea Lee, she hits hard too.

All of these plus many many more are very entertaining and dominant which would be perfect for The UFC.

All of this would open doors for many fighters to come who would be looking to make a name for themselves in MMA. That's IF we get a Flyweight Division in The UFC in which I 100% support.

All of these fighters I listed, are under the radar by mainstream and deserve a LOT more attention.

With fighters like Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Liz Carmouche stating their opinions in wanting a Flyweight Division in The UFC, While I do believe we're still fairly far away, now would be a good time for fans and fighters alike to voice their opinions in wanting a Flyweight Division in The UFC.

Flyweights are now starting to get attention from LFA, always has from Invicta, and now regionals are picking up Flyweight Prospects, so now would be a great time to jump aboard The Flyweight Hype-Train :)!

Do you as a fan want to see a Flyweight Division in The UFC? Feel free to let me know :)
